Teal

For those of you more experienced hunters, do you have more success with Mallard decoys or goose decoys when hunting teal?
Our season starts Sep 8th, can't freakin wait!
I'll be hunting mostly on the MO river

I have had teal come to the smaller mallard and black duck decoys but they seemed to shy away from the magnum decoys. Not conclusive evidence as it has only happened a couple of times.

I'm going to be hunting on alot of sandbars I've heard of people bringing a shovel and just making piles of sand that resemble ducks. They say Teal are pretty stupid. Ever heard this?

That's a new one to me but I have used old 1L (quart) oil bottles with the pour spout on the side and they worked atleast OK. The decoys were better.

around here we use mallard and black duck decoys mostly, but realy with teal get where they want to be and just kinda try and hide and you should be able to kill a few .
i had the same bunch come back to the pond i was hunting 3 times and each time i killed atleast 1 so if they want to be where your at all you need is a gun shells and waders and a dog never hurts.
