As with most things concerning firearms, Bullet selection often determines powder quanity.
Different bullets sizes and types will fly very much different with different amounts of powder. Notice the lots of "differents" there so try lots of different loads with each type and size combos until you find the setup that you want for the ranges you want and the animal you are hunting.

80 grains would be a good starting point with 110 grains about the max limit for most non-magnum MLs. Check your ML "getting started" book that came with your smokepole to get the max load that it'll handle.
Warning:110 grains of powder will pound the heck outta your shoulder!!

I shoot a 295 grain powerbelt bullet using 85 grains of FFF outta my Rem 700ML in 50 cal.
My wife shoots same bullet outta her fancy new magnum .50 cal using 95 grains of FFF powder. Both shoot 1 1/2" groups @ 100 yards. Good example of different Guns shooting Identical bullets but needing different charges to achieve same results.
