I'm thinking about getting an encore for late season here in Iowa. Do any of you have any experince with this gun? Also what type of set up do you all use with this gun, scope, powder, bullet type, ect. I'm new to muzzleloading so any info would be great.

I have an encore in 209x 50 as well as in 7.mm. mag. and i must say that i have never held a gun that shoots as well as the encore if is truly a shooters gun . This gun will shoot better than I can hold it . I hope that all of you can have as much good fortune as i have with my encore.

I have had my Encore for three years now and I can't see myself ever getting rid of it. I have three barrels for it, a 209x50, a heavy barrrel 22-250 and an 18.5" ported 45-70 barrel. But the muzzeloader barrel is why I'm really so fond of it. I have killed 4 deer and 1 turkey with it where it really shines is on the bench. Right now I'm shooting 100 grains of Pyrodex Pellets with a 295gr powerbelt bullet. I can consistantly shoot 1.5" groups at 100 yards on an average day, sometimes better. The 45-70 is my new "baby" though I haven't shot a deer with it yet(I did shoot 2 groundhogs this past summer with it)

Not much, I'll put it this way, most of their insides were on the outside.

As for just how well the encore will shoot I am gettin 150 yard groups that can be covered with a fifty cent piece. I,m shooting 110 gr. of loose pyrodex and a hornaday 240 gr. xtp . This seems to be a real good combo for me and my encore. As for my 7mm. mag berrel i,m shooting groups that can be covered with a quarter at 250 yards. I shoot remington 150 gr. psp core-lokt rounds in it , they seem to perform very well for me .
