The taste of Mountain Goat meat?

Hiker..........as a non-resident you are required to use a guide. Guides are on quota, so you do not have to enter a draw even if it is a draw area for residents. If you book with an outfitter you are guranteed a licence.

Alberta has very few goat permits and they are all reserved for resident hunters.

There are big goats in BC alright. I did see the bow killed goat if it is the one I am thinking of. In the remote areas most of the big old billies still die of old age or natural causes......not hunting pressure.

Yes, one of these years, I'd like to go on a BC sheep or goat hunt. Thumbs up BC has so much variety of big game animals, a big game hunters paradise. Yes

Yes, but it is feeling the population pressure. Lots of resident hunters and growing all the time cause everyone thinks they want to live there. Also lots of tree huggers.

I agree! What ever became of that outfitters lease that the tree hugger group purchased? Do you remember that?

Yes.........that was on the coast in the Bella Coola area. I use to guide for grizzly in that country. Now it is logged badly and there are a lot of people around. The territory belonged to Leonard Ellis.

I do not know its current status as much of it was up in the air....legality wise..... as to what they could or could not do with a quides quota. I do know that they said there would be no grizzly hunts conducted.

It all makes me laugh. It use to be that if a guide didn't use his quota the Ministry of Environment would threaten to take it away from you.........now the tree hugger types get involved and suddenly the rules seem to be changing.

They would be spending their money better if they fought to have more of the watersheds protected from further logging. Habitat and access are the key grizzly issue, not a few trophy boars getting hammered by hunters.

Never shot a Goat I enjoyed eating--only have shot two but both of them and ones buddies shot were tough and awful tasting--ok for sausage in small doses--do like domestric cabrito though.
