Bear Meat

I think the biggest swings in taste for all game meat come down to proper field care. I've seen/heard of some atrocious practices. After that, the cook can make or break it.

In my opinion black bear is some of the best meat going, if you get a berry fattened fall black it don't get no better. You take care of it in the field and cook it proper you should have some good eaten. My wife chicken fries most of our and it's the best.

I assume you mean black bear. I had no interest in tasting the stuff until my daughter married a bear hunting guide. I wanted to hunt bear and I was raised believing that if you hunt for it, you shoot it, you eat it. Properly handled it is the best meat I have ever tasted. Not properly handled it is not edible. Bear meat is high in cholesterol but man is it good. Thumbs up

Like I said above--We eat about anything we kill and like bear OK But if one has tasted elk, Moose or well prepared WT & Mulley deer, bear qucikly goes down the line of favorites in my house hold and never would be called Awesone( the much over used adjective).
This week for dinner we have had, Wild pig, Ak crab cakes, grilled elk BS. Bu ti feel like a traitor as last week i actually cooked/ served Domestic Baby back Ribs to wife's family (14)in town for a wedding.

Well there were times I would have been very happy to eat store bought meat--BUT economic factors said no--now it's by choice.
Hopefully this winter i will be eating Ontario Moose again.
