Heading up to deer camp this weekend with my hunting buddies and our daughters. Gonna check out and do repairs to the stands (if needed) and scout a new farm we have permission to hunt on this year.

I plan on taking my bow, don't plan to hit it too hard with my 10 year-old daughter in tow. Really, really looking forward to a lot of Daddy-daughter time and being out in the woods and riding 4 wheelers.

In November (rifle season), I'll be taking my 9 year-old son for the actual hunt. Gotta take the time for that one-on-one time with them.

Got back Sunday afternoon from our trip up to deer camp. We built 2 more stands and tore down an old one that had all but fallen down.

Saw quite a few tracks....one really big set, but didn't have much time to scout. It's one of those properties where deer are taken year after year from the same stands, so not a whole lot of scouting needs to be done.

The kids rode four-wheelers all weekend and had a BLAST! We slept in my buddy's camper and cooked chili and brats around the campfire. I forgot how many stars are in the sky when you get that far away from the city lights.

The only bad thing is I brought back a bumper crop of chiggers. Yikes!

Sounds like heaven
