Tag soup

Went out for the last day in 50 mph wind in area 47. Saw 3 shooters. One was a Toad. Skittish as can be in large groups. No way to hold the gun still as I was getting sand blasted by the wind. I shot at 2 of the bucks and the Toad spotted me at 700 yds and was in the next county in a heartbeat. Tipped my hat and called it a day. Really tough conditions!

Sorry it didn't come

Sorry it didn't come together. Was wondering how you finished up.

I hate the wind but hunting in Wyoming it's come to be expected.

I was picky to a fault, but I

I was picky to a fault, but I wanted something better then I have. I love Antelope hunting and had fun doing so. I have no complaints about not getting one. Mother nature just one upped me! I passed so many early on, but saw better goats later in the season. The problem is they are just spooky when it is that late into the season. Now I can concentrate on getting my 12 year old daughter a nice Whitetail buck in December.

Sorry to hear you didn't end

Sorry to hear you didn't end up bagging a goat. It was definitely a tougher year for us as well. I thought the animals were extremely skittish too. Add that to the larger groups that form later in the season and you have a much more challenging hunt.

We have usually done our Wyoming antelope hunt in September--getting out the second week of the first season. We've never seen the antelope so spooked as consistently as we had this year when we hunted a few weeks later than usual. We'll probably plan to go in September for future hunts.

This was a good year for the Antelope. Hunter success was down, so next year there should be a few more. I have friends that hunted a different time and had 4 doe tags. They hunt there every year for does. This year they shot 1 out of 4 for 25% success. Access was mainly the problem with muddy roads etc. Plenty of Public ground just tough to get there. Area 47 as well. Might have to go up and hunt some Boomers next year.(Sage Chickens)

Tag Soup

Tag Soup sucks, lord knows I no the taste. And hunting in a hard wind is nasty. But atleast you had time to enjoy the outdoors.

Tag Soup

Bleu,

It suck to eat tag soup, but we all get to every once in a while. I tip my hat for holding out for the big one ! Applause As I can't always do it myself. Sounds like a tough hunt for sure, but there is always next year.
God willing.... cool
