SWAT Team Kills Mayor's Dogs

All I can say is WOW.

- WOW they shot the dogs.
- WOW nobody was arrested.
- WOW no no-knock warrant.
- WOW it was the mayor.
- WOW the mayor says one of his dogs was shot while running away.

Maybe WOW is what the tax payers will say when they get hit with the lawsuit bill from this one....

Wow those black labs are known to be ferocious you know - NOT.

Isn't that great. The police bring an unmarked package to your house and then raid you for accepting it.

They should get jail time.

It's fairly typical for police to deliver a package that they know contains drugs to the person addressed on the package as in this case. Happens all the time. Post Office, DHL, UPS whatever. Usually they try to just get someone to admit they are getting drugs and cop a plea.

I personaly don't think pot is such a big deal, but you know it's our law, and the way to change laws is through legislation, until then one must comply with them.

Sometimes drug dealers are nervous. Cops get shot. Probably a bad time to have aggresive dogs. I wouldn't mind shooting some myself. How many dog bites per year in the US? People can't control thier own animals.

Wow. I know a lot of people don't think pot is a big deal, but 32 pounds of it is a big deal.

As for aggressive dogs, that's a tough one to argue when the dog's running away.

Even so, the package sounds like entrapment to me. How many people sign for a package from UPS without a second thought?

I saw the mayor on the news this morning. He looks and sounds as squeaky clean as can be. Apparently, his wife's identity was stolen, the package was addressed to her, he accepted and when his mother in law saw SWAT guys in the yard, she screamed and they broke down the door and shot the dogs immediately.

The mayor came across as very credible. He was calm and matter of fact of how the police screwed up and how they have tried to cover it up.

Over POT! They killed his dogs for nothing! Evil!

Aren't there some meth labs that need to be taken down? The "War on Drugs" is gone over the top! A S.W.A.T team at the Mayor's house. They were harboring a dangerous elderly woman and 2 dangerous labs .

What the f#&*?

Below is an excerpt from the story I've linked. The key for me is authorities say that the package is part of a scheme where drugs are mailed ot UNKNOWING recipients.

This very wrong and I hope the Mayor continues to pursue this and that justice is served.

"Authorities say the package was part of a scheme in which drugs are mailed to unknowing recipients and then intercepted.

Calvo said he had just returned home from walking his two Labrador retrievers, Chase and Payton, when his mother-in-law told him a package had arrived for his wife, Trinity Tomsic.

Moments later, Calvo was in his room changing for a meeting when he heard commotion downstairs.

"The door flew open," he said. "I heard gunfire shoot off. There was a brief pause and more gunfire."

Calvo said he was brought downstairs at gunpoint in his boxer shorts, handcuffed and forced onto the floor with his mother-in-law near the carcass of one of dead dogs"

I would certainly hope the police had more information documented prior to the arrest. Otherwise, this is a complete abuse of power. Police do it all the time without getting caught, but I'd like to believe the majority are honest.

While I don't think marijuana is a big deal and probably over regulated......32 pounds is a pretty significant amount.

I can't help, but think there is more to this story than what we currently know. Remember that the cops, along with the mayor and his family, are all innocent until proven guilty.

The drug scheme was pretty simple. A fake delivery driver would drop off packages at a innocent person's door for someone else to pick up later -- classic dead drop technique of spy novels.

So in that light, what justifies that much force? I hope the mayor has firing authority over the police in that town.

It was county sheriff's deputies and not the town police that conducted the raid so the Mayor doesn't have any control over them.

I believe it is just a small town and the Mayor only receives a stipend for his services and has another job.

I recall seeing tag along news footage from the early 1970's in NY City where the NYPD has to rescue a hostage from a crazed man with an M1 Garand in an apartment building. It was three uniformed police officers who completed the task. Killed the bad guy and quickly rescued the hostage. No kevlar, no surefire lights, no M4's, no goggles, no tactical boots, no helments. All they had with them were their .38 cal revolvers, and a couple Winchester Model 12 shotguns, a sledge hammer, and thier own whitts, brains, and guts. They got the job done efficiently.

Todays cops seem to have become obsessed geardo's without a brain. A bunch of mutant ninja turtles who think they need to look all tactical and military, yet hunker down and fail to enter a building when people are dying. But they're more than willing to shoot innocent people's dogs. Brick Wall,)
