Scope and Mounts!

CVC,

I think you are pretty safe for this month's contest - if I was you, I would already be ordering a set of bases and rings for a Kimber and be starting to do some serious glass shopping!!

That rifle will earn some great glass, of that I am sure.

That is a super prize and one that will look good in anyone's safe - and even better out in the field.

Congratulations may be a bit premature but you do have a fairly comfortable cushion!

Good work!

Jim, thanks for the kind

Jim, thanks for the kind words and thoughts, but I am a superstious kind of guy and unlike those rookie football players who raise their arm and start celebrating on the one yard line and end up not scoring a TD, I will keep pushing to the very end.

My wife has now said to me at least a half-dozen times, you are not playing next month - right?!

If I am so fortunate to win the rifle, it will definitely get some excellent glass, but that will have to wait until I am back to work.  No glass in my immediate future until I get a job again.

I love this news! It is

I love this news! It is coming at the perfect time as I just resigned in order to be eligable for employment over the summer and I will be on winter break from school. I am actually going to be able to devote a lot more time to the site. I think I am going to be able to be pretty darn competetive next month. I want this months rifle bad but that one next month is no slouch! Thanks to vanguard for putting up all the sweet prizes.

I am sure you will be very

I am sure you will be very competitive next month as you are very competitive this month.  You keep me glued to the computer.  Will we learn more about Uncle Larry next month?  Has he read the story?  Next month's rifle is a very nice rifle.  I had it in the .30-06 caliber and it is a very high quality rifle.  The stock is not a cheap plastic stock, but very solid and the proprietary barrel coating is better than just stainless steel.

I took it on my first pronghorn hunt and it rained quite a bit.  Everyones rifles were getting surface rust on them, but mine stayed rust free.

Get those stories and posts ready because you will really like the rifle.

Ouch!

Hawkeye,

That is terrible news for me!!

As excellently as you write and with lots of time on your hands, that will likely preclude me having a chance at the new rifle!

I fret not however, as there remain many other excellent prizes in December that I may have a chance at!

I commend you also for your good mix of stories that were used to gain your points - great work!

I am glad that there is another month of competition, as I missed the early months of the series.

Best of luck and I am sure you will earn every point you get!!

I originally missed the link

I originally missed the link to the page for a list of the prizes.  I just checked it out and they are first class.  I think I will have to stay in the contest to win even one of the lower level prizes.  They are all nice.  I especially could use a good spotting scope and it is not even the top prize, but could be.

Way to go Vanguard!

Jim: I do not think you are

Jim: I do not think you are going to have any problem staying in the mix next month. And with how you write... I am sure glad that I will have so much time to put towards the competition. I really had my mind set on winning this months Kimber but after the onslaught by CVC I just could not hack it. But with all the time that I will have next month I think I can atleast be a contender.

CVC: I would be really worried if I was you. I just submitted 28 stories last night before the deadline and therefore you are screwed!!! ha ha Yeah right. I think it is pretty much safe to start congratulating you now. That is a sweet rig and Jim is right... you better not put a tasco scope on that thing.

Haha.....call me weird, call

Haha.....call me weird, call me paranoid, but I've been posting my butt off because I didn't know if you would come in with a huge amount of stories.  Don't know how many uncle Larry stories you have waiting in the wings.

Oh that is a horrible image, a Tasco scope on a Kimber.....kind of like a wart on a Victoria Secret's model.

I know you'll be a contender next month.  I have no doubt about it and I look forward to reading stories and tips from you.
