Sunday Hunting in NC! It could happen

HB 505 is a study of Sunday hunting in NC and is currently before the House. If you are at all interested in getting another opportunity to hunt each week, you need to let your representatives know NOW!

Thank you Ted Nugent for mobilizing the troops at the Dixie Deer Classic!

Okay folks, I just fired off an e mail to Wilma Sherril thanking her for introducing HB 505 and I also asked her to add, "private land" to the "limited number of state game lands" they would consider for Sunday hunnting. True, the gap between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM is a drag, but we'll take what we can get, right? Besides, we are in the hipocrit belt, excuse me, bible belt.

I also sent e mails to the other 2 House Reps from Buncombe County indicating I would like to see their "yes" vote on this bill when it comes to a vote. I will watch this closely.

If you are a NC resident and hunt in NC for anything at all, anywhere, I urge you to contact your rep and let them know how you want them to vote. This is an op to actually get something that we never had instead of losing something for once and anytime we can get a plus in our column for sportspersons, we have to take it. In times where states have hunters that came close to losing the right to hunt with dogs, we actually have a chance to gain a day to hunt with or without dogs. Anybody who reads this, lives in NC, hunts in NC and doesnt get off his or her but to take 10 minutes to send an email to their representative can be catagorized as a lazy, porch sittin fool.

Sunday Hunting in NC

Guys,

Sunday hunting can happen in NC, but we need to get active!!

We need some one to get behind this cause. Governor Easly is a hunter, but he has indicated that he is not really concerned about this. I fear the rest of the legislature may take the same position

Hunters only make up 8% of the NC population (295 thousand). Even if every one of us were supporting this issue, I think he views is as not being worth his expending political capital. We need to make it a higher priority on his list. Here is his address:

Governor Michael F. Easley
Office of the Governor
20301 Mail Service Center
Raleigh, NC 27699-0301

Send him a letter today!

I believe that we should keep Sunday hunting as it has traditionally been, if the religious aspect doesnt concern you, then it would to be to give the deer and other animals a little break and they wont be so skittish without being shot at seven days a week, or finally people like to ride horses cant do much riding in the winter without worrying bout being shot except on sundays, but we will let the politicians decide what is best

I know several states have the no hunting on Sunday law. Personally, I don't like to hunt on Sunday much, but that said, I also work. The disabled guys who hunt and fish all week, it probably doesn't matter much, but for the working, the weekend is probably their only chance unless they pull vacation time to hunt and that's not always possible.

I believe that unless there is sound biological evidence that the game need Sunday off, then hunting should be allowed on Sunday. I also believe common sense should be exercised. Don't hunt in the church's back yard on Sunday. One of my hunting spots I usually park in the church's parking lot and head up the mountain. Last year, I was hunting on Wednesday and didn't think about prayer meeting till I came off the mountain. There my truck and trailer was in their way. I certainly didn't mean to do that.
