Striper Fishing Yesterday

Mark and I were striper fishing yesterday on the Stewiack River . Their just starting . We released 5 . 4 pretty good ones and 1 tiny one which is a good sign that their spawnning . It's all hook and release in the section of the river that we were fishing . The upper section of the river opens on the 15th of May . Then we can keep 1, 27" or bigger on that section of the river . Here is a couple of pics .
We were thinking of our old buddy Greg all day ..

Striper Fishing Yesterday

HOwdy Nail. Ive been in the sand for the past 14 months and just got back a few days ago. Sorry to hear about Gregs passing. He was a funny fella and always a joke for me when we talked. Always meant to get up ya'lls way to do some huntin and play a lil pool but just never could get it in schedule. Uncle Sam seems to keep me a little too damn busy ifn ya know what I mean. Nice fish ya got there (Marks was bigger!! neener! ) Laugh If you or Hammerett need anything dont be afraid to give me a holler buddy!!

striper fishing

Hi cam , I'm goining to be a while getting over Greg's passing . He and I were the greatest friends ever . When I went to town .The first stop was always Greg's .We would get out and pay some bills then get some groceries and grab a box of the good stuff and take tour of the back country for few laughs . And believe me there was plenty of laughs . Oh well , we all know life really sucks sometimes . This is one of the times it really sucks for me . I'm just taking it one day at a time without my old buddy around .

Hammerett is not very good either . She had a brain infection that really took it toll on her . I don't beiieve she will be around for too many more years either .

Hunter, we really had a blast on the river . It should even be better next weekend . The run is just starting . I can't wait to hit the shad on the 15th of May when the upper section of the river opens . I'll post a couple of pics of some of the shad for your vewing . I'm planning on bottling a few to have through the winter . This will be a first ,so I don't know what they will be like . I usually eat 4 or 5 during the season . They are a very tasty fish , but the bones are unreal . I can work around the bones .....LOL.....

That looks like a good recipe. We got skunked. If I could shoot the SOB's...no problem but catching them on the bent stick, I stink at it! Brick Wall,)
My brother felt bad and gave us some frozen fish from last week.

No striper around here, but I bet that recipe would be good on catfish or even pike filets!

Hope you're doing better Thenail!
