Striper Fishing Question

What would you pay for a 1/2 day fishing during the spring run for stripers in the Hudson river?

I have been looking into Taking people fishing for stripers from mid April - 1st week in June

I was going to offer 1/2 day from Monday - Friday 3pm to 7pm for $60.00/person/day

weekend fishing Saturday & Sunday 7am to 7pm for $100.00/person/day

I would supply all Fishing equipment needed NO FISHING PERMIT IS NEEDED to fish the Hudson River south of the Troy Dam.

Are these good Prices I am mainly looking to make friends and catching some fish.

Striper Fishing Question

Here in Maine a guide gets between $250 and $350 a day for striper fishing.
1/2 day would be 1/2 of that. This is per person. Some do it for the day for 1 to 2 people.

BE CAREFUL!!!

Be careful with your advertising for fishing clients. In NY you must hold a NYS Guide lic and a USCG Capt's lic inorder to charge people money to fish!

Tight Lines!

I agree with Hunter. Here in Maine you also need the USCG 6 pack they call it here. Once you hit the salt water you are in different laws. You also have to have your boat depending on length with all of the propper saftey equipment.
Plus it has to be inspected by the USCG after so many feet in length.

Striper Fishing Question

The biggest striper I've have ever seen, came out of Lake Mead in southern Nevada, back in the late 70's. This fish weighed in at 57 lbs. When we cut it open. Seven whole trout slid out of it's belly.
Thats what I call fishin'. Eight fish on one hook.

Same goes for Washington. The Coast Guard has no mercy for offenders. You had better have your papers in order and your equipment correct for the size of the vessel.
It's not a requirement to have a vhf radio but, if you do. It had better be on.
If your charging clients to fish. They want to see the proper licenses.

If you fished an area that allows 3 fish per day and you land the boat at a marina where the limit is 2 fish. You had better have only 2.

Striper Fishing Question

All this is good info I wouldn't even think of taking anyone out with out the right papers or equipment needed. I am now in the process of receiving my guide permit, first aid classes, and ALL permits needed to take people fishing.

As of right now I do take people fishing but only for fun NO MONEY EVER
changes hands. This is a fun trip only.

Happy Hunting and Fishing.
