state wildlife agency uses preserves to attract new hunters

A state wildlife agency uses preserves to attract new hunters to the sport of killing.

I saw on the news tonight that the CO Fish and Wildlife Agency is using preserves to attract new hunters to the sport of killing and it is working.

I wish I had a link but like I said, I saw it on the news tonight.

The news said that hunters were declining and that state wildlife agencies were looking at ways to bring people back into the sport to generate more money.

The focus was on women and the news said that they caught on easier than men and the program was working.

I guess since they have run out of men to attract to the sport and hopefully they won't resort to trying to attract boys under ten years of age, well that only leaves women. State Wildlife Agencies seem to be highly motivated to bring in more and more money. TWRA had so much surplus money horded up a few years ago that the Governor confiscated several million dollars of it from them to pay off some of the general debt.

Most TV stations offer an online version of their news.

Lynn, lets stay on topic. Your off topic post has been removed.

Here you go, found it on the ABC news website:

Its great that a wildlife agency is creating programs to encourage new hunters among women and youth.

However I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion from this story that Colorado was using preserves to encourage hunting.

The TV reported that he hunt took place on a preserve. They were pen raised birds.

Just watched the movie clip and they did indeed use preserve raised pheasants (that was not stated in the printed article). However, I don't see how this is an issue, since preserve raised birds are fairly common all over the country. They used this setting simply to introduce novices to the hunting sport.

I still do not come to the conclusion from this story that the DOW is encouraging hunts on preserves, since their objective is to sell more licenses and bolster their own bottom line. Encouraging hunts on a preserve would defeat that purpose.
