Stand HELP FOR NEXT YEAR

Hey guys i was hunting southwestern pa last week for doe and i was just walking around and i found a possibly great stand for next years hunting season i am going to list the reasons im planning on putting a stand here and i want you guys to tell me if this is a godd idea to put a stand here?
1) There Are a lot of rubs around it high to the one i saw was on multiple branches of a tree and the others were atleast 3 and a half feet high
2)ALOT of viewing area i can see a lot of land
3)I can get there Quietly
4)I shot a buck in that area earlier this year but the rubs are fresh even after i killed that buck
5) I was there two weekends in a row and a new rub was made the second Weekend
6)There is a water hole
7)There are scrapes under pine trees beside it

These are the reasons i think this will be a great stand telkl me if you agree or diagree

Stand HELP FOR NEXT YEAR

Some areas are buck areas. If you have many years worth of rubs (some new and lots of old ones) then your in an area that many genrations of bucks frequent during the "different" stages of the rut but possibly not all year long. If those rubs are new and there arent any old ones there, you may have come across an area this deer is using during this time of the year for whatever reason (food, security from hunting presure or whatever). If you have taken a buck from there in the past and there is a buck working the area now then I think it can't hurt to have a stand ready to go for next year but, I would let the sign in the area at the time you plan to hunt (are they using it right now) dictate wether or not it will be a good choice when the season is in.
The part you said about the area being open bothers me a little because I typicaly like to hunt in areas where the cover is thicker. Deer don't seem to like to get out in the open during legal hunting hours........He may be making those rubs during the night. Thats not to say that deer aren't taken out in the open. Plenty are killed right in open fields. Just the way I like to hunt. Most of my deer stands will be in an area that you couldn't see more than 60to80 yards and thats pushing it for most places.

Stand HELP FOR NEXT YEAR

They might be hard to see but that's where they are.
I have a couple of permenent stands that I only use a couple times a year. The rest of the time I use the climbing stand to move around with. The times I do use the permenent stand we usually get something from it. I am a firm believer in not over hunting one spot. A permenent stand makes it very easy to abuse it because it is so easy to get out of your car before daylight and go climb a ladder and sit in a comfortable seat but remember your first time on stand in a particulare area you have the best odds of the season to get a deer because they don't already know that you hunt from there.

Stand HELP FOR NEXT YEAR

Well im lucky enough to have a freind that owns land in NEPA and we have 5 perminate stands set up. We usually have 3-5 guys there for the 1st week and every Sat. but other then that its just the 2 of us. I know from experience that you could have the best setup on paper but when the hunters start moving the deer its a different story. I have not harvested a buck on the 1st day in 6 years of hunting here and some years i dont see any. I have food plots by my stand all summer long. IMO pick a spot thats comfortable for you (dont walk 20 miles cause it looks good) because you never know when that monster is going to walk out from behind that tree!

My freind just took a doe on New Years Eve w/a Muzzy there was a herd of 17 deer in front of the house that took off when i drove in the driveway. They took off into the woods twards our stands. We walked back and kicked out 5 of them. He got discusted and wanted to go up to were his normal stand is i told him to sit tight for a few cause i knew there was more around. What do ya know here comes 4 more and he took one.

I guess what i am saying is to take into consideration other hunters in the area. If there is alot you never know were the deer are going to be.
