Are you locked into that part of the state????? if not look at the national forest in the western part of the state. If you are interested i can give you some starting points. I prefer the NF because i can cover more ground and its not as crowded as the WMA's that are closer to more populated city's.

I am not locked in and can definetly go to the NF. If you can give me some starting points that would be really great. Travelling and scouting I can do very well as long as I have some starting points. I will look into the NF as well. I would definetly prefer a quieter area where I can focus and work some birds.

I live in Roanoke county and hunt the surrounding counties, Craig, Montgomery, Boutetout. There are good areas from Rockbridge co
down through Giles co. You can go to the NF web site and order maps of all the ranger disticts. It is the George Washington-Jefferson NF around here.

Just a word to the wise. If ya hunt Chickahomany WMA be ready for LOTS of huners and it can get rather nerve racking around there come turkey time. Had a buddy shot at 3 years in a row by other hunters coming into his call and shooting before knowing what it was. But Chick does have alota birds there.
