who would a person file a complaint with about that race?

Typical BS in this state. I'd be willing to bet it is no accident that the race is on the opening day of the special bear hunts in that unit. Which in my opinion is hunter harassment, sponsored by the state.

Who is responsible for organizing this race? And who is the person responsible for approving events like that in the Capitol Forest unit?

I think as many hunters as possible should show up there early Saturday morning and do everything possible to disrupt their race.

In the mean time I'm calling the WSF&G Department to complain and everyone of my state legislators to tell them I think this is nothing short of state-sponsored hunter and game harassment, which is against state laws.

Looks like it is getting to the point we're going to have to start taking the F&G and the state to court, and sueing them for every violation of our hunting/fishing/trapping rights. It's the only way to stop this stuff. That's what the environmental and animal-rights groups do, then that is what we need to start doing to them. Tie them up in court and make them spend all their donations and support money on fighting court battles.

I wonder if we could get enough hunters together to interfere with their race enough to totally disrupt it and make them think twice about having another race there on opening day of bear season.

Just sent organizer an email...

I found an email address to the person I think organized the race. In the email I told him I thought it was stupid and irresponsible of him to put his runners in dangers way, when he could have easily scheduled the race before or even after the special bear season in that unit, and that by purposefully scheduling the race on that day, he was intentionally harassing the hunters and the game animals. Told him I was going to try and organize a bunch of hunters to come up there and disrupt his race as much as possible.

Any other hunters want to get together and go disrupt the race in support of our fellow bearhunters that did get drawn for the hunt?

spring bear hunts WA

While I feel (and understand) your anger, I doubt if it was planned to disrupt the bear hunt and I am not sure if rallying against it would be a good move on the part of hunters.

I agree that it could have (and should have) been scheduled at another time, but it is only one of many sanctioned events in the forest. Many of these events are only a minor interuption to my hunting. I did not get drawn this year, but wanted to post the info so others would not waste an opening day.
