spring bear

hey this is my first time on here i'm new to bear hunting and i would really like to get one this year, i'm pretty familiar withe the north coast so i was thinking about putting in for the wilson-trask spring hunt...does anyone have any tips or advice for finding bear.. like maybe where to go, and what kind of areas to look for...any tips and advice is greatly appreciated..thanks

When I lived in Beaverton, I scouted some really nice clear cuts in the Tillamook State Forest. I would look for those and either call or spot and stalk.

Spring Bear is the way to go! I was drawn 2 years ago for the east side where I live. It was rough early in the season because of snow but Id glass clear cuts and open ridges where they'll be grazing on grass and new buds. Stups are a good start also.

We don't have a spring bear season here in Nova Scotia but I apply in New Brunswick every year .. Here is a great pic of a spring bear I took last year here in NS

Taking, and skinning

These large bear can top over 300 lbs, so how does a lone hunter take one back to camp?

well i would say watch the old skid roads early in the morning, and keep your eye pealed for skat. i have found that still hunting probualy works the best for bears. best of luck to you!! Thumbs up

ya i got a draw for wilson/trask area so i guess i'll have to do a bunch of scouting now..thanks for the tips

In pieces. Usually two trips for the meat and one for the hide.
Or whole in a game cart.
