I had a buck pronghorn tag for a private ranch about an hour East of Trinidad that I filled this past weekend. My Dad and I loaded up and headed South midday Friday. Long story short, the landowner had donated this tag to my dad's work for a silent auction. The guy that won the auction put down the wrong contact info and never came to pay for and collect it. Therefore, they asked my dad if he wanted it and he passed it along to me!
We hunted a privte ranch about a mile North of Branson, CO. We hit the field around 7AM and saw antelope all morning with 5-6 good shooter bucks. There was one buck that was clearly larger than the rest, but after a couple failed stalks he bolted for a different ranch and was then off limits to me. The buck I bagged was the second best buck we saw all morning and I was more than happy to pull the trigger on him! We underestimated the yardage by about 100 yards and I hit him a lot lower than I had wanted, however with in a minute and a half after traveling 10 yards the buck went down for the count. This is my first buck and one I'm proud of! The tip of his right horn and the cutter are both broken off, but I like it- gives him some character!
