auger

I'm still looking for a gas auger! I am so behind schedule. By the time I find one, it'll be ice-out.

Do you tie your own bugs Thenail?

We're switching gears around here too. My hubby does all the fly tying around here, and he's been cranking them out lately.

What do you flyfish for?

Nice flies. Those Canadian trout must have some big appetites.

I do make all my own flies . Those are salmon flies in the pis but I fish everything with flies and bait or lures but the fly is the most fun . Our salmon season is closed here for summer fishing but still open for the fall runs . I 'm busy with the hunting and trapping when that is on . I got into the shad fishing a couple years ago and that's as much fun or more than salmon fishing with the fly . I have to get my butt in gear and make some brown trout streamers . The fly tying is addicting . I have 10 boxes of salmon flies and only use about 10 different flies If I live to be 200 yrs I'd never use them all . Good past time and fun to tie . I have 2 boxes of trout flies as well

Cowgal , here is a pair of my favorites . if i could only have a couple of flies , this would be them . Both work equally as well . The muddler version maybe a touch better

Thanks for the info and "fly recipes'! My husband said he's definitely going to try them out. Big smile

Do you know anything about flyfishing in New Brunswick? He'll be there in mid-May for a work related conference and would also like to take his fly pole along and give the fishing a try. What is good during that time? Trout? or can he also flyfish for Atlantic salmon at that time? Can he go on his own, or will he be required to use a guide? I believe the conference will be in Fredericton, but I'll have to double check on that.

Thanks!

Cowgal , I ran a quick check on fishing in New Brumswick from a friend that fishes there . Biack salmon ( SLINK ) opens 15 th of April . Trout opens 1st of May . Fresh runs of summer salmon opens 15 th of May .They have zones like we have here for deer . The timings are general for the whole provience .
Flies are the Micky finn , muddlers , and my flies lol lol . Make some differemt colored muddlers and I have good luck with a white micky finn (white with the red stripe ) instead of yellow and red . Make one or two with flou. butts Be sure to have both veasions . For brown trout the bigger the fly the better .

A guide is required to fish in New Brunswick . Hope this info is helpful

Cowgal , Here is a few flies that would work well in N B . I used larger sized flies to show patterns , but make them on # 4 and smaller I showed the larger ones so you can get the pattern easier . If you have any questions about the patterns please post
