So Close....I can almost taste it. Hunt officially opens in three weeks.

For the last few months I have been stuck in a 10' x 10' room and not able to get out into the wilderness. I know what you are thinking, but no, it was not jail, though it seemed that way at times. I was studying to take the Utah State Bar Exam. It is finally over and I cannot believe that the elk season opens up in three weeks. Unfortunately I will not be able to hit up the hunt on opening weekend but in a week I will be able to get out and scout for three more days before the hunt. I am so excited I have watched some old elk videos and already got my gear together. I bought some new arrows, more broadheads, and have the bow shooting like a dream. It seems like just yesterday I was going to the Hunting Expo and it was February. Since I cannot join the elk contest, as I do not have enough posts, I challenge you all.  Me, 2 brothers, and a buddy of mine are all going bow hunting and have a good chance of at least taking down a cow. 2 other brothers of mine, both under 18, drew out for an antlerless tag during the general rifle hunt in a great area so we should have a good opportunity there also. I hope everyone on here has a lot of fun and stays safe. I will keep you posted on the scouting. mmm...good. Tastes like sucess.

Got, fresh clean tags in hand now, we're almost there.  It's just around the corner.  (already?)

Excitement

Excitement is definitely the word.  My group drew a first rifle season either sex tag in a unit that I know pretty well and have had very good success in.  If only the season would last as long as the anticipation.  Good luck to all!

We will be leaving wisconsin

We will be leaving wisconsin on the 9th of sept.  To spend a week hunting with my wife then an additional week with my dad.  Should add up to some real good memories.  Why does it always get so tuff to sleep as we get close to the hunt?
