So Cal Hog Hunting

I lived out in Alabama for the past two years where I got into hunting.  I am looking to hunt hog down in So Cal, Im willing to travel 100 miles in any direction from Los Angeles for a good hunt.  I'm not trying to pay to hunt on land so public is what I'm looking for.  I understand most people don't want to give out any specific spots but a general area would be nice or even just somewhere you have heard a good hog population.  If it matters I will be bow hunting but have a shotgun as well I would be willing to use.

Thanks

Welcome to the board.  There

Welcome to the board.  There are some decent places just about that far from Los Angeles.  Start by looking for public land up near Paso Robles, San Luis Obisbo, etc..  It's a 2 hour drive or so.  There is not alot of public land there, but some.

Then you nhave the Angeles Nat. Forest close to you.  Not alot of pigs, but lots of hunting land.  Lots of hunters too.

One other place, a little inland, is Kern or Tulare counties.  Kern county is about 120-150 miles away, about a 2 hour drive.  Kern county puts out some good numbers of pigs.

If you are military or DOD,

If you are military or DOD, there is also Vandenberg AFB a little farther up the coast.  Decent numbers for pigs and deer.

Not exactly sure, bu the

Not exactly sure, bu the general rule of thumb out here is that the further north you go in the statem, the better the hog hunting.
