They're headed lower - don't bother going high if you head to that area.

what did you see for elk cuz i am going to do that hunt this year if you dont mind me askin are they still hangin out high

We saw sign, but it was all moving down hill. There was NO elk sign at the top of Thorne Creek Butte or Bald Mountain which are around 7500 feet. We camped at 5500. I think they are moving to their transitional and winter ranges early this year, along with the deer. The wolf pack up there didn't help things, either.

If I were going to chase Elk in 39, I'd head toward Arrowrock, or maybe even Harris Creek above Idaho City. Shaw Mountain?
