agree

Most western states only allow one deep per calendar year… I thought your contest was all about the bone on the head.  It should be a contest for the highest points measured off the bone added up on the total of 3 bucks your team kills during a season (one each person).  It should be the first buck you kill to make it fair for the western guys who can only kill one…

I agree, one deer, either buck or doe, that would make it fair for the western boys

That's fine. But, if you're

That's fine. But, if you're only going to count one deer, then you need to give 100 pts for a doe, -100 pts for a button buck or fawn. Reason being, the bucks everyone are going to shoot will be over 120" min, right. The does need equal representation b/c a lot of people would rather shoot a mature doe than a 100" buck. I'm one of those individuals, I think Alpine is one. If we choose to shoot a doe to have meat on the table, then it needs to count for something more than 5 pts. In the same respect, anyone shooting a button buck or fawn needs to be punished for shooting an immature deer. Make your actions have rewards and consequences.

I thought in the beginning discussion of this competition, there was talk about a sliding scale for measurement of the deer. Mule deer, on avg, are bigger than whitetails. What constitutes an immature muley? Do mule deer start out as spikes b/c I never remember seeing one. What's immature for a muley, a fork horn. Midwest deer are bigger than deer from the South b/c genetics and feed. A trophy coues deer or blacktail deer is smaller than whitetail deer. There needs to be some kind of standardized scoring or an adjustment factor. My 2 cents.

Hey ecubackpacker. I don't

Hey ecubackpacker. I don't know what happened to this but I could have swore that I had posted it in the rules page. Here is the sliding scale ratio. As far as coues deer go I could not find the proper ratio to a whitetail. These are official scores of the Pope and Young scoring system. We are also going by gross score not net score.

Whitetail (as norm):125/125 = score x 1
Columbia blacktail: 125/90 = score x 1.39

Sitka blacktail: 125/75 = score x 1.67
Mule deer: 125/145 = score x 0.86

So we can only enter one buck

So we can only enter one buck now???? these rules need to be a bit clearer you guys are killin me. I don't stand a chance with one buck entry.... I might have to back out of the contest if this is so... You can't keep changing the rules to suit people after the contest has been established...

everyone on our team can only

everyone on our team can only get 1 deer per season, so we are already at a huge disadvantage. Confused

Hunt more states?

I guess you guys will have to hunt in other western states and pay the outrageous licenses fees just for a bragging rights contest
