In my part of the state, I can shoot 2 bucks, 2 does and 2 either sex deer on my primary license. The kicker is I can buy an unlimited amount of extra doe tags at $10/2 tags. Better watch out...

Most western states only allow one deep per calendar year… I thought your contest was all about the bone on the head. It should be a contest for the highest points measured off the bone added up on the total of 3 bucks your team kills during a season (one each person). It should be the first buck you kill to make it fair for the western guys who can only kill one…

It is about the bone. That's why I limited the doe to two per person. Each doe is only awarded 20 points. That is a total of 120 points per team. If you aren't shooting a buck that is at least close to that then you probably shouldn't shoot him. Yes, we are only counting 1 buck and it has to be the first buck you shoot. Hopefully for those people who can shoot more than 1 buck will be honest about that. Also, if you shoot a button buck it is -10 points. A doe fawn is -5 points. Since taking out does is a necessary part of managing a deer herd why should we not reward the hunter for doing his part. The reason I put the limit at 2 is becuse some states offer unlimited doe tags and it wouldn't be right to win a bone contest by shooting all does. However I find nothing wrong with rewarding the hunter at least a few points in doing his part for good herd management.
