There are lots of slug slingers here. You'll have company. Slugs are very effective prejectiles.

I love slugs. Going to eventually get me a slugster. They are deadly on any type of game and the bullet selections are growing. Everything I have seen shot with a slug piles up right next to where he was first hit.

Im a slugster. Thumbs up

Slug guns are getting pretty sofisticated, rifled barreles, optic sights..
New sabot loads good for 100 to almost 200 yards.Muzzle energy of a big magnum rifle! 3100 -3600 ft.lbs...2000 fps
I want a moose!

I was looking at the B.C. hunting regulations now...How Stupid!!
Shotgun not allowed for moose but any centrefire rifle??
That means someone can legally shoot at a moose with a .17 cal. Rem.,25 gr,bullet.... While my 600gr. 3100 ft. pds. slug gun is ineligeble? How ridiculous!!! I am going to fight this.
Only a complete idiot could have wrote these rules.

Did I read that right. You have a 1 3/8 oz (600 grs) slug going 3100 fps?

Your sure right about the law, that's stupid!

Wait a minute. Ft Pds. Do you mean foot pounds energy? That would be ft lbs e. That would still be a lot as you'd need over 1500 fps mv to make that with a 600gr slug. At 1500 fps a 600 gr slug will give you 2998 ft lbs e.

No,let me more precise,a Remington "Buckhammer" hits at 3232 ft. lbs. of energy,1500 fps.
But a Remington "Core-lock Ultra" goes 1900 fps.,and hits with 3086 ft. lbs. energy.
But a Lightfield slug,11/4 oz.(546gr.) does 1730 fps., and hits at 3628 ft. lbs. muzzle!!
Thats some hittin' power !!
Certainly more than any small centrefire...with 25- 100 gr. bullets.

WOW that stuff sounds hot. What's it like to shoot that stuff? That factory ammo?

Please excuse my ignorance, I never fired to first slug in my life that I recall. But an once and a quarter is an once and a quarter, shot or slug. That must be some awsome recoil?

If you shoot a 3" or 3.5" magnum slug you are definitely getting the snot kicked out of you even with a semi-auto. They make the recoil on my 300 RUM feel like a 223. You are getting hammered but so is the target. Bash I stand by all my previous posts about one gun doing it all and it is the 12 ga. I wouldn't feel under-gunned in any close range situation.

Yes they kick hard! Even a cheapo $5 box of Federal Magnum 11/4 oz. slugs kicks with authority.
But most people don't really realise the killing power of these things, most think they are only good for 25 to 50 yards. Think again,I traditionally fired them out of a 30" barrel(lots of speed),I hit a black bear at about 80 yards and the slug went right through his chest and skipped off the ground behind him,I thought I missed!
Now for my obsession to build a slug gun from a Marlin model 55.... Big smile
36'' barrel! I think with some handloads and a slower burning powder.....
C'mon, someone in Canada find me a Marlin Goose gun...I'll pay top bucks. Think
