Thats exactly what it says. It is a direct copy of the article you pasted !!!

Thats my own math at the bottom ... 1/2 of 400 is 200 and 1/4 is 100. 50% is 1/2 therefore 1/2 of 400 would be 200. and 25% is 1/4 therefore 1/4 of 400 would be 100.

An excellent education in math for hatracked. Now I wish I had it in me to give a course on tact. But when tact goes that far out the window, I tend to get hostile. Try this. This is not life and death we're discussing here. Simply observations and opinions. I suppose we'll find out you have a degree in wildlife management now, maybe you were on Seal team 9?

I apologize, that was uncalled for but I just can't get by the lack of tact that allows another member to be treated so rudely.

jasunky1, you have displayed an extrodinary amount of restraint, your a credit!

Read on fellas.........

Why dont you figure up how the terrain in this young mans area will affect the size of that overlapping range. Then why dont you tell me which part of that overlapping range this young buck will spend most of his time in. Want a clue ? it wont be where he was born by a much higher percentage .

BTW its no more tactful for the mods to be rude or condecending than it is for the poster . cool Fact is fischer, I asked your mod buddy here to delete those posts, which he has obvious refused. Seeing how I cannot once someone responds you have me left with no other choice than to continue on with the debate.

Fact is I you, nor this young upstart can tell the poster if the deer will hang around. Fact also is its more likely he wont than he will, and even if he does it will be in a limited capacity.

I disagree hatracked, fact is the deer is just as likely to hang around as they are to leave. I don't have a clue as to the lay of this young mans land anymore than you do. I simply pointed out what the research stated. It was certainly not an abomination against your knowledge, just a observation that this young buck COULD still hang around after he was dispersed and the hunter COULD see this young buck later on in this deers life.

I left the post that you posted and challenged me to delete because they we relevant to the discussion and not aimed at an attack on you as I have found your previously post, up until this particular subject, to be informative and polite which I alluded to in my PM to you. I use my delete button very sparingly.

heres a little clue on just how much acreage were talking about broken down into seasons. This study was done in rolling hills 60% wooded terrain.

1 square kilometer = 247.105381 acres

Rolling hills, moderate forest cover (60%) and moderate fragmentation.

Jan-April April-July August-Sept Nov-December

Adult females .97 .67 .56 .59
yearling females .84 .70 .74 .72
fawns 1.45

adult bucks 2.35 1.71 .97 1.55
yearling bucks 2.28 1.32 .72 1.99
fawns 1.13

ALL DATA IN SQ KM

Now to the original poster.. how much ground do you have there? What kind of terrain is it, How many dpsm is there? What is the gender ratio? How bout the age class representation hows that break down? As you can see a buck on average lives within a one square mile area year round in this type of terrain. But before you jump on that, understand deer dont live in squares. Also understand that original dispersal distance may put that square mile of permanent living well out of your reach.

Point is all these things have an influence on whether bucky stays home and if he does revisit home how often and how long he will stay. Sure it isnt dead serious around here but the original post asked a question based around an advanced concept in deer management. One that deserved a better answer and a little more thought than provide a good food source and he will stay around. If y'all don't care to be serious or accurate in your answers that's fine, but don't go tromping on mine because I do.

Hatracked, this forum stands behind its moderators 100%. Its at their discretion if they wish to delete, edit or not. The mods have the final say in an argument. Our rules are very clear about arguing with the mods, its not allowed. You run a forum, you should know what that entails.

Some of your posts were unnecessary and out of line. If you had a beef with another member, you should have taken that up via PM, not on the open forum. The number one rule here is respect for other people, regardless of their age or level of knowledge.

Now lets move on and get back to the topic of this thread.
