Shotgun for a lefty?

I know about the Remington870 express comes in left handed version. But I wanted to have my options open. So any decent priced shotguns for lefty?

ALSO:

If I buy a shotgun that can handle 3 1/2" shells does that mean I can use 2 3/4 and 3"?

Thanks.

your best bet would be to buy a remington 870 super magnum. it will shoot 3 1/2,3 and 2 3/4 inch shells. and there only about $340 plus tax canadian i believe lebaron has them on sale. hope this helps Thumbs up

I agree the 870 Super Mag Gives you the versatility to almost whatever you want. You can go from close range deer with buckshot or slugs to turkeys and waterfowl with 3 1/2" magnums to rabbits squirrels and other small game with 2 3/4" or 3" and then down to dove and quail wiht light 2 3/4" loads.

I have one in 12 ga that I use for all this and more including shooting skeet. The thing with having one "do it all" shotgun is that you will be much more proficient at hitting stuff b/c of the fact that you only use that one gun.

Walmart sells the for about $295 plus tax, but you might look around and find a used one at a pawn shop or the like for $200 or less.

Hope this helps!

I know, I would love to get that gun, but, but, but, but, Remington does not have the super magnum for left hand shooters. They only have the magnum, which shoots 2 3/4 and 3" shells. I think it would be great to have the 3 1/2" shells. If there is another option please le t me know. i am desperate here. sad sad

Well the 3 1/2" is not a necessity. A 3" shell is capable of taking waterfowl and turkey. I'm not sure of the price of the left hand model but I know the standard model is available for less than $230 new and I have seen them for as little as $125 used.

I have used 870's throughout my hunting career and although I'm only 22 I believe that they are a very capable firearm for any situation. I have used, shot and hunted with brownings, benellis, rugers, winchesters, mossbergs, and others. The remingtons is still the best in my opinion.

I know the BPS comes in 3 1/2" 12ga and 10ga but couldn't tell you if the 12ga will take 2 3/4". Wow, 3 1/2" is a whole bunch of shot shell. Never shot one. That ought to loosen the teeth up a bit.

In all reality there is no need for a 3 1/2 inch shell. Your average increase in USABLE range is only 4 to 6 yards and thats only if you have the choke right. In my honest opinion the Belting you get in recoil and the extra cost in shells and firearm just aint worth that minute amount of range!! I shoot the old trusty Mossburg 500 pump and dont miss to dang often...I dunno if they make a lefty or not But thats about the best most versatile shotgun Ive ever owned...Its killed everything from Squirrel to Black bear and dang near everything that flies! Its not so much the gun as it is the man aiming it.

What are you planning to hunt? I am a lefty and have mostly doubles. All my doubles have a tang safety making it ambidextrous.

Do you reload? I think 3-1/2" shells may only be necessary for waterfowl hunters using steel shot.

I'm planning to hunt upland gamebirds and waterfowl.
