I actually considered it many years ago just out of high school but I couldn't afford the college courses.  As for now if you look at it the job isn't what you may think.  Long hours along with working weekends, you are usually working during the hunting seaason, sometimes so much that you don't get to go hunting yourself along with being on call 24/7/365.  In most states you are a sworn in law enforcement officer so that is another couple of months through the police accademy and you are usually on patrol by yourself.  That and along with most people that you stop and talk to are armened and you don't know if they are some local kids out hunting rabbits when they shouldn't be or if they are out checking out their plants that they are cultivating on the hillside.  But somebody has to do it and my hat is off to the ones that do.   

I think in many cases they don't get the respect or support they deserve and many fail to realize that they face danger just like any other LEO.
