Shooting range equipment questions.

Sorry if i selected wrong forum topic.

At the moment i have to equip several shooting ranges in Moscow (yeah, Russia).
50, 100, indoor meter ranges. (Both handgun and rifle) - It seems that we don't have anything more complex than paper targets or pretty simple running targets to be offered from local suplliers. =\ I'm looking for something more ..

For example I've heard there are some "interactive" systems for hunting training
(looks like watching a "doscovery\animal planet" film, which you can shoot and see where you got after..) do you know where can i find that? Did you have any experience?

If you have seen anything interesting at your shooting ranges - please tell me (what did you like or found useful\interesting\amusing) What do you use most in a shooting range? Maybe you have any other ideas concerning a modern world-level shooting range?

would appreciate any manufacturer names, advices, pictures and links.. anythong worth telling..
thx in advance!

Laser-Shot has an interactive game hunting, training system that has been used in hunter education programs throughout the U.S. It's pretty good.

Yeah, i 've seen systems like that but i've heard of equipment that allows to use your particular gun in practise (not laser or other gun-looking stuff)

-i mean it looks like shooting in a tv with your .500 Evil!

anyway thanks for the link !

Re: Shooting range equipment questions.

Realistically for hunting training and general target practice I've never see a range here that has anything more than 50 yrd, 100 yrd, or 200 yrd stationary paper targets for rifle shooting and many ranges have retrievable paper targets for handgun target practice out to 25 yrds or sometimes 50 yrds. Some ranges do have lateral moving hanging targets for handgun but that's not all that common.

The truth is that for as free as we are to own guns and target shoot here in the good old USA, technology and advanced systems for range equipment is very lacking despite what may exist on the market Yeah we are still pretty basic and primative at most target shooting facilities. I think that the rest of the world thinks that we have everything that they see on TV, but as far as most ranges go, it's still pretty basic stuff. To me, video games may be good for fun and entertainment, but they are no good for real target or hunting practice.

Interactive stuff seems to be great entertainment, but of small practical use. There's nothing like putting lead on paper from different distances and positions. IMHO anyway. One thing an old range here in California used to do was to put up steel targets of varying sizes at unknown distances and they would move the targets around and even partialy hide them if you began hitting them too easily. Cheap and cost nothing it was an imaginative way to practice shooting and judging distance.

You can use various steel targets that move when you shoot them. Look at some of the various competitive shooting rules and they have examples of various targets that you might find interesting.

Only redeming value of Laser shot and HE Tools is that you can decide where to place a shot, and the animal can then be peeled down to show bone and organ to help you understand what organs and bone would likely been hit. That aspect as a teaching tool is pretty good.
The wing shooting section helps you understand lead, follow through and keeping cheek to the stock, also pretty good.
Otherwise they are indeed just games.

There is nothing that will replace actual experience. In actual hunting there are so many variables that they counld not be reproduced with an interactive system.

Do a google search on tactical targets and equipment and you will get most of the info you need. Here is one site that has some but there are lots out there.

Pretty useless stuff for hunting practice. Pretty good stuff for combat training. I shoot a lot of defensive pistol, so i find that type of stuff usefull for that.
