Ran into these today while scouting for them. It is awesome when you find what you are looking for.
Well done. Glad you found some. Chalk that scouting trip as a total success. What state are you in?
I am in Utah, have a wasatch tag.
Very cool - congratulation! any time you can get close enough to get a good look at moose it is amazing. They are incredible creatures. It is so much the better when you are actually looking for them. The only thing better than seeing moose while scouting for them is seeing legal moose when you are actually hunting for them in open moose season and you have a tag in your pocket to fill!
I didn't draw a moose tag this year - so good luck to you guys who will be out there chasing them in the autumn of 2011. Let us know if you find them and share the story and photographs with those of us in moose steak withdrawal this year!
Mike
Three nice bulls just off the road, they woul
d be easy to get back to the truck.

Looks like a great scouting trip. Like you said its awesome when you find what your looking for. Now the hardest part is finding them again when your season starts and you can actually shoot one. Good luck with your hunt and keep us posted.
Good luck with that hunt as it should be a great one. Is that a once in a lifetime hunt? I have never yet drawn a moose tag here in Colorado but have applied for a very very long time. I understand the excitement of actually seeing what your looking for out there. In scouting for my elk tag this year I have seen a few great bulls now and the excitement keeps building, I have always seen elk and some good bulls but when scouting for a tag that you will never get again the excitement level is totally different. Of course like has been said it is just finding them again when the season is open or being worried there will be other hunters in the same are chasing the same bulls you have seen.
Good luck again and let us know how it goes.
Great picture and wish you the best when the season opens. Have been putting in for 11 years here in Colorado and I know a few guys who have waited even longer. Maybe my lucky number will be 12 next year. If you connect this year be sure to post it. Good luck!
I have to laugh. I read your reply too quickly earlier int he thread, where you said you had a "Wacatch" tag. When I read it my brain saw "I have a sasquatch tag"... ![]()
Couple of really nice bulls there! I can't wait to see how you do with your tag. There are some other really good bulls out there, and it's always nice to see someone get one of them. Especially out west, where the tags are really limited.
Being from Vermont, and with relatives in Maine, I have seen alot of moose, live and dead. However, it's still really cool to see them! Best of luck!
Next week the hunt starts and I am getting nervous. Found some bulls, not quite big enough for a once in a lifetime hunt. Hope the big ones come out soon!

Heck, those are not too bad. Just curious, if it's the last day, and these guys walk out, are you going to take one? Or, would you rather go home with nothing on a once in a lifetime tag?
