If I still lived in BC I'd go with you. Big smile

Yugo.....I have been forced to go on solo sheep and goat hunts, heck all kinds of hunts on my own over the years. I got real tired of having guys back out all the time or not being able to find anyone to go, so I just started doing it on my own.

Takes a bit more planning and you need to have your family on tap with dates and locations, etc. but it is doable. I actually like it. Lots of time to think and I don't have to spend a lot of time caping out everyone elses heads because they can't or refuse to learn how. Wink

Yugo.........no I didn't find them to be a big deal. As long as you have the right equipment and pack right. Climb up, do some glassing, set up a spike camp and then go from there. Pack a few things so you could stay out if you had to. Heck these days you can take a sat. phone and a GPS. No problem for people to find you if you did get in a wreck. You just need to take things slow and you do not take chances at all.....just use your head and stay safe. It is not a big deal.

BC................too damn many people now for my tastes and the price of land is ridiculous. Still go out to visit family, but I usually return depressed with all of the development, beetle kill and well....................it just isn't like it was when I was a young fella. I'd have to move up to the Atlin country to be happy and even then there would be too many damn tourists in the summer. Wink

It sounds like a great adventure

I live in  Ottawa, ON and have been dreaming about hunting the doll sheep and mountain goat but i dont know the area / terrain and dont have 20 000 to pay to an outfitter. I need help in identifying the area where to hunt where to hike how to get there where to camp. Can anyone help me in this regard. Or if anyone is willing to join the hunt with me who knows the area, i will gladly pay for the licence fee.

Welcome Mishraz - I'm just

Welcome Mishraz - I'm just down the road in West Carleton. Before you do too much planning or invest/commit any finances you might want to check BC's regs to make sure that a DIY sheep hunt is even legally possible for out-of-province hunters.

Good luck.
