Lee powder scale

The Lee powder scale does work and is every bit as accurate as my RCBS.  My gripe about the lee powder scale is setting it, but once set, it does measure accurately.  Their powder hopper on the other hand leaves some to be desired.  Sure the hopper works, if you don't mind the constant inconsistant throw of powder.  Granted the incinsistancies are +or- 1 grain, but that means more time using the trickler to get precise loads.  The Lee hopper also does not wear-in like the RCBS or others.  The Lee is made of almost all cheap plastic parts, innards as well.  It will wear-out rather than wear-in to throw a better powder load.

another vote for RCBS

I've never had a complaint about the RCBS equipment.  I recommend them.

In fact starting off with the RCBS reloading kit is a great way to go.

I did it piece by piece but if I had it to do over again, I'd just buy the kit and have everything at the start.

There is nothing wrong with using factory loaded ammunition, but if you shoot a lot and buy your componants on sale when discounts are available (or partial boxes from estates, classified adds, etc.) you can save a ton of money.

I figure the first 400 rounds of 375 H&H paid for my equipment in savings.  So after the first six months or so of reloading  I was in the black and racking up more and more savings over time.

The only way that reloading doesn't save you money is if you pay full retail for premium componants.  But that just doesn't make sense to me!

I don't like but one thing

I don't like but one thing about the Lee powder measure, the way you MTY it. My kid has it too and it's just to rough operating for me. As far as consistency, I don't care as I throw low charges and trickle up anyway, even with ball powders.

LEE

One great thing Lee offers is a book called The ABC's of Reloading

Well, at least I think Lee has it published.  I have the 7th edition and think it's one of the better books out there on reloading.  I highly recommend it to anyone getting started into the hobby.  I recommend it even to seasoned reloaders too.

Lyman also makes an excellent reloading manual.  I think they are on the 47th annual edition.

You really can't go wrong getting 2 or 3 manuals and reading them all!

Yeah theres lot's of good manuals out there.  This ABC's book is more of a book on everything reloading except specific data recipes, as opposed to a reloaders manual with recipes.
