I hear ya about the light.

I hear ya about the light.  Fortunately for me (or unfortunately), the deer here are really small.  If I forgot my light, I could probably just drag the thing to my truck and do the cleaning in the headlights... lol

I did kill a spike many years

I did kill a spike many years ago that I was able to throw over my shoulders and carry out just as far as this one was. But of course I was a lot younger then and trying to look tougher than I really was. lol

DARN Nice one Wade!!!  I would use harsher language but I think you understand my excitement of your harvest here.  Great looking head and antlers!  Pretty neat you stuck at it until you were able jump it again and get the kill shot.  Congrats to you!  I wish the best for your daughter in her dwindling time available.  I really hope she is able to harvest something.  I know she will make you proud regardless of the outcome.  Looking forward to the story and some more pictures!

 Thanks guys. Here's the pic

Thanks guys. Here's the pic of the back of his head just the way it came off with no bone cutting required. The bullet traveled a long way to get that far too. But I'm using the barnes 160txs from my 7mag so it is meant to penetrate well.

First photo is a little 2 point when I was hiking in for the rest of the meat this morning. My daughter was at work though or I'm sure he would be on the way out as well. We'll be going for 3 hours this evening and then again on Friday. Supposed to snow on Wednesday so that might stir things up a bit more.

Congratulations to you and

Congratulations to you and your son on taking 2 nice looking deer. Hope your daughter can fill her tag soon too. You and your family have had an outstanding year and I am sure your freezer or make that freezers are full. Not sure you can have a much better year unless you draw a moose tag too. Great job!

That's a great start to 2nd rifle

Man, that's a great start to the deer season!  Both of those bucks are pretty nice.  Hope your daughter gets hers as well!

Kind of funny abou the flashlight/headlamp too.  At least you didn't forget the knife and have to use a 2" pocket knife to whittle your way through the field dressing.
