these are the bucks my wife and i shot this season in area 17 in nevada. i had come out to the area to spot a mounth in advance and had seen nothing but elk, but i was hopeing the weather would come in and drop the bucks in this area when we came to hunt on october 5th. we showed up oct 2nd and before we got to the place we where going to camp we had seen a bachlor heard in the road wich took some weight of my shoulders.the next three days we whent up the canyon and glassed from sun up to sun down and seen alot of deer about 12 bucks in those 3 days and 2 of them pushing 190+. that night the spirits where high no other hunters to be seen for miles and bucks every where it was hard to sleep. the next morning we woke up to 4 inches of snow. we whent up the canyon to the top of the mountain and waited for the sun to come up but the clouds where so thick no sun could be seen. it lightend alittle and we didnt spot one deer on the mountain or in the canyons i figured the weather would make them start late or keep them down tight in the canyons, its was like that the second day as well. the 3rd day brought sun and temps in the hi 50s, we saw some deer afew does mixed with some small forkys. the next day the snow was gone and it was 60 again we hit the big bachlor heard 6 bucks across the canyon we put a stalk and came within 170 yards, i had my wife pop up and she was on the big 5/5 monster, so i took a smaller 4/4 and then 1.2.3 bang mine droped. my wife forgot to chamber a bullet. she chamberd one and rose from her shooting sticks and took a 200 yard running shot at a 3/4 and drilled it,i was in shock i couldnt belive it 3 mounths ago she had never held a rifle, but she shure looked like she knew what she was doing then. all in all it was a good hunt, we didnt get the big ones but we got bucks and lots of good times.
