Well for the past few months i've been pretty busy hitting the saltwater fishing and havn't really made much time for my hunting plans. I ended up drawing all of my permit hunts plus some so I'll have a busy season this year.
I put up a couple stands this past weekend and did a little scouting. The area I hunt is still pretty wet from all this rain we've been getting this year. I think just in july alone we were 19 inches above average for the month.
Archery season starts saturday and I'll be breaking out my new recurve bow and hunting with ti for the first time. I decided to go traditional this year atleast for part of the season. I also have a 30 year old Martin Cougar Magnum bow I'kll be bringing on a few hunts to try and take a deer with a vintage compound bow as well. Just trying to add a little more challange to the hunt.
Here's a pic of one of my stand locations. Right on a flooded corn field that really didn't do very well this year because of all the rain. I did see two big fat does right under my stand yesterday afternoon though. maybe they'll stick around for saturday.
Good luck to everyone heading out this season and be safe!
