I read this story earlier this evening and even though I have been working on my cursing, I could not contain myself.

We have allowed the Morons running this country to create ridiculous rules that apply only to US Soldiers that effectively renders them unable to complete their mission and places them in harms way with no way to win.
We should all demand that every single American Soldier that is serving in a country that is not a US Territory, be brought home until we make up our minds to let them do whatever it takes to complete their mission.
It will soon get so bad that US soldiers must ID their target in a firefight and then ask that target for permission to shoot them. If said target refuses a Lethal or non lethal gunshot wound then the US Soldier must stop all aggressive actions and stand and await the targets next instruction.

This coward should be thankful that a fat lip is all he got.
He is not a US citizen and should not be treated as such. He/they are combatants and are the enemy and should be dealt with as such and if the Iraqis have a problem with that them tough crap for them....whatcha gonna do about it?
I realize that I am not being Politically Correct and I say to heck with that. This PC crud is destroying our country and now it is putting our Soldiers in danger.
I am fed up with it.

This is the way the left has allways done business in regards to the military. Go and make the world safe for democracy. Just don't hurt anybody or make them mad! Asinine. Completely asinine. Seals kill people and break things. It's what they do. And thank God for them.

Remember the one lib that used to post on here and vehemently defended everything Obama did? Wonder how he feels about this as he was pro-military? Is this the president he wanted?

I believe that one Lib is still active on this site, if we are talking about the same person. I don't agree with his political views, but he's a good guy.

I think all this crap in the news is an abomination. It's nothing new though. This time it started when those US Marines were accused of massacaring some Iraqi civilian family back in '04 or '05. As I recall there were actually seminars dedicated to "enlightening" our ground troops tellin them - "even if hajji is pointing an AK-47 right at you, you still need to take the time to think if you are really in danger or if this guy is really planning on pulling the trigger." Give me a freaking break!! PC bleeding heart liberals, they are the biggest detriment to this country's well being. How do you think somebody like former General Curtis LeMey would respond to this garbage?

Personally, I think the SEALs are showing a lot of guts -- turn down Captain's mast and go for the court martial. Let's get it out in the open. Invite the press. If KSM can get a show trial in NYC to stand on his soapbox, let them have theirs.

Good luck finding a court martial panel that'll convict.

How did we go from not thinking much about Patton slapping a solider to being all concerned about a terrorist getting a fat lip?

Actually Patton slapping that shell-shocked soldier caused quite a huge uproar back then. We may not realize it now, but at the time (as I understand it) it was a pretty big deal. Patton was a great battlefield General, but he did a lot of things that got him in trouble and set him back in his career. His leadership on the battlefield and commanding abilities set him well above the rest. Like him or not, no other General had the balls that he did. Maybe some of our Generals today should step up and start smacking some politicians around. Get the public to see the importance and severity of this war on terror. Then maybe we can complete our goal.

I was referring more to the time when the movie premiered. I was just a young boy at the time and people I knew thought nothing of it or that it was a good thing.

Regardless, my point is that we've gotten to the point where we give more rights to terroist than our soliders and that is wrong.

During Obama's speech at Elmendorf AFB on November 12th, he said, "if it is necessary, the United States of America will have your back." That's something our troops aren't used to hearing. What they like to hear is "we've got your back." Period. No qualifiers, and no question marks about whether the support will be there. No, "We will if we have to."

So the unspoken corollary is that if he doesn't think it necessary to support them, they're on their own, right?

The oath taken by our military officers includes the phrase, "I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion."

"If necessary" sounds like a mental reservation to me. Nothing damages morale faster than to tell a soldier that the people he's pledged his life to defend and sacrificed so much for will reciprocate his dedication only if it doesn't inconvenience them.

I was speechless when I first read this news release, and I still am. Words cannot describe how angry this makes me. I hope everyone that hears about this is equally angry.

How and why in the world do you give American constitutional rights to a terrorist captured on foreign soil? This guy committed murder and unheard of atrocities at Fallujah and now he gets to press charges for fat lip??? Like I said, I'm speechless.
