What part of Tripp co. are you hunting? I have hunted in Tripp b4 and had good luck. Mostly private land though. Some landowners are good about letting you on while others are not especially if you are looking for horns. Lots of flat land with some shelterbelts and sloughs scattered througout the county. Deer are chased pretty hard from what I remember. Tripp is mainly a pheasant hunters destination with lots of pay hunting, but lots of deer are there. Start knocking on doors and see if you can get any permission. This is my best advice for you. I did know of a rancher by Clearfield but I dont think he is there anymore. He let me hunt does but no bucks. I cant remember his name though, so sorry.
Let me start off by saying that I am a scaredy cat.
For someone that spent 3 years in 82nd Airborne jumping out of all manner of military aircraft, my friends find this ludicrous - but... it is what it is!
Climbing stand? Yep, still scared - put me up 15' and that is about it.
Ladder stands? I am better in these - but still cautious.
Chain on stands? Used to love them, now they terrify me.
I was once ridiculed for putting chain on stands waaaay too high - some of my friends...
