So, unlike Exbio where he manages to find deer, elk, antelope, and moose all in the same scouting trip, all that I managed to find on my scouting trip today were a few birds and squirrels. However, I did cover quite a bit of territory, saw a lot of beautiful country, and learned quite a bit about the area I will be hunting deer this fall, not to mention getting some great exercise. While I did not see as much deer sign as I was hoping for, I did find some. Hopefully I can get out there again before my season opens on 8/27.

Atleast you were able to get out. The season are rapidly approaching and I have yet to get out once. Like I said the season are getting here quick and I do not think I will make it out at all. Luclily I am not hunting a new unit or anytihing so I have a good idea were to go, but it is always nice to get up htere atleast once just to make sure nothing has changed to drasticaly!

That sucks that it looks like
That sucks that it looks like you are not going to be able to make it out to scout. Since you are hunting familiar units, it is probably not a big deal. However, scouting is an excellent excuse to get out there and "practice hunt" while you get yourself excited for the season, so I understand your disappointment.

hard to see sign in the summer
The constant high country rains, plus the long grass make it difficult to see much for sign in the summer time. But looking for critters is fun. Here's a shot from Thursday afternoon. If you look REALLY closely, you'll see about a half dozen deer about 1,000 yards away at timberline.

I haven't had a chance at all
I haven't had a chance at all yet but hopefully will finally be able to get out this next week. There will be at least a couple of trips in August or early September no matter what. Good luck with your next trip out there.

Man, you must be getting
Man, you must be getting excited, only a couple of weeks away. don't worry, none of us are like exBio, he keeps the wildlife on a leash and breaks it out for the photos...
Great to see you got out. Some very beautiful country you have there. Don't worry, you will find that 30 inch mule deer if you keep putting in your time. You appear to be working hard for it!
Best of luck! Hope you are one of the first successful reports we see, followed shortly be me.

So that's how Ex gets all
So that's how Ex gets all those great wildlife pics!
I am excited for my season, and I would be thrilled if I got a 3 inch buck. Thanks for the optimism though. Even if I don't get anything, I will still report back here.
Good luck getting healed up, and good luck on your season!
