Scouting for deer part 3

This weekend I had the opportunity to scout for deer in NM. Activity has slowed down some. I believe it's due to the hunting season now being open up here.

I managed to get some deer footage in my trail cams. I replaced the card and left them up there until opening day. I also built a ground blind near the area of most deer activity.

On the way back home I spotted a herd of about 25 Pronghorn Antelope on the side of the road. I pulled of to the side, glassed for a while and took a picture to share with you all.

I'll be back up there in 3 weeks for the hunt.

Good Luck!

I'll leave Wednesday and be hunting on Friday in my quest to fill a coues tag.

I hope you can get it done bro. Me and Hunter25 will seek a pair of mighty wiley coues in southern Arizona near the southern border of the discombobulated state.

Glassed up two good ones last year but couldn't close the deal. I will do what I can to rectify that this year. My skills improve, glassing and knowing my quarry, each and every season. I felt confident last year and except for a scope issue and being unable to close the distance to get a shot I can now honestly say I can find coues.

This will be my third coues hunt in as many years and Hunter25's first. My first goal is to get his tag filled. Then I'll search for my grey ghost. The first year I connected on one but was unable to recover him. In the time since that first coues hunt I've learned more than I ever thought I would about bullet selection, shooting, and optics.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail your thread, just wanted to wish you luck and look forward to hearing about your coues hunt. If you want to hunt them out here next year give me a shout as my camp is open mate, ( I talk aussie as I'm married to a Sheila).
