It's nice to catch a glimpse of the deer frequenting your area without spooking them before the season!

They aren't a necessity, but a valuable tool none the less.

big reason why i am considering getting one is that i live in New Brunswick Canada. its down right hard deer hunting here. just not many deer at all. its hard enough to fill your tag each yr not to mention find a good spot. I havnt shot a deer in 5 yrs now and i can count the number of deer i have seen on one hand sense then during hunting season. We have to put in for a draw to get a doe tag, so that limits us even further. Maybe i just suck at hunting LOL. currently i moved to a new area and while out scouting i have found some good sign. mainly trials, tracks, crap and such, not much for rubs or scrapes. so before i go and put time and effort into a certian spot, i want to know what is there and how frequently.

great site buy the way. lots of info....thanks

I use a Stealth cam for for bear hunting it works pretty good.
If you can afford a digital go with that . That way you can get instant gratification ( waiting to get the film back sucks and expensive) by the time the season is over I spent enough on processing to buy 2 digital cams Big smile

That sucks man I would assume the whitetail population is huge up there, guess not. How about elk or moose?

the MN dnr is giving away tags for whitetail like crazy in the area i hunt a person can get 5 tags I have no idea how they come up with these numbers they better redo the count be cause it is way off. I only saw 3 deer this fall and they were yearlings.we hunt on 1200 acres of semi private land.I ussually see deer trails every where in there but not this year. as for elk they are being reintroduced to the state in the nw corner the farmers up there arn't to happy with that guess they have a bad rap for crop damage. Moose here is a once in a liftime hunt, four to a tag heard that there was a 160 moose harvested this year

Hmmm, sounds like they are getting their ideology from the MI DNR.

Look forward to the worst hunting you've seen in years!
