well its not biggest deer in the woods, but i ended up shooting a spike horn sunday afternoon, it weighed 100lbs. the dissapointment was that my scope was turned up way to high and it looked much bigger then it actually was/is. just the same i'm happy with it. It puts fresh venison in freezer and gives me another succesful hunt to remember. He came out of a stand of hardwoods about 150yrds from where i was sitting and just kept coming closer. Iput crooshairs on him and that was all he wrote. After he was down was when i realized that he wasn't exactly as big as i thought he was. But as i said i'm happy with him just the same. Good luck to all the rest of you this season..[:)]

Hey thats not that bad. I had some guy show up below my stand and he had been stompin around so I got out of my stand and was headin home when out in the open a huge 8 point jumped up 200 yards from me and I couldnt shoot because there was a house behind him.

I did get a really nice doe with my new 243 so im happy with her and now im just out havin fun huntin and relaxin.

Hey, it's alright about the smallie. My mom shot 2 very small deer last year. In fact one of them had spots. I will try to get the pics of the deer posted here. Sometimes it's just hard to tell the size of the deer. We've all shot a deer thinking it was bigger than it actually was. No sweat.......KEEP HUNTING!!
I can't wait till Saturday...Gun opens here in Wisconsin.

Congrats Jonesy!! At least yours had some antlers. I had to settle for a doe in the early VA muzzleloader season last week (I just got back).

The only thing the antlers are good for is stirring the stew...you got a spoon for that, right?

I know what you mean about the deer and its antlers looking bigger through the scope. Most of the bucks I shoot are B&C records until I meet them in person

While I haven't tried whitetail. Younger game usually tastes better, so you get a bonus Jonesy.
