The only thing that doesn't wear a Leupold in my gun safe is my 22 mag.(Bushnell) I have a Vari-x III on my 220 swift but a VX-II(which I have on my 300 RUM) in 3-9X should be right at home on the swift. You may want 14X depending on the distance and size of prey. I personally don't see much difference in the VX-II and Vari-X III, but the difference between the Vari-X II(now VX-I) is considerable.

Thanks for those sights! I own a 30/30 and I want to mount a scope on it, but the cartridges eject from the top...wouldnt the scope block them from ejecting out? Also what would be a good scope for 150 years?

Any scope will work for the 30/30 but you have to get a side mounts for the scope which puts it a little off center of the gun allowing the brass to eject.

Are you saying that I would need to mount the scope or have the scope mounted sideways? So I would be looking sideways to see through it?

It sounds worse than it is. The scope is only slightly off center just enough to allow the brass to fly by. It may even touch the scope on the way. I have never put a scope on any of my 30/30 but have seen it done. There may even be something "new" on the market to allow for this.

I just put a Leupold VXII 3x9 40mm on my 7mm mag...I really like it but I am use to the cheapies like the Bushnell Banner 6x I had on my 30-06 before.

I would really have liked to put a Swarovski on it but just alittle too much money for me. I do have a pair of their binos and they are great.
