I've only ever owned Leupold scopes on my biggame and target rifles and none have ever let me down. Never had an issue with any of them over the last 20 years of owning a few. The only time I've deviated from Leupold was recently when I wanted an inexpensive rimfire 4X scope for a new Ruger 10/22 I bought recently. I went with a Simmons 4X .22 Mag rimfire scope I paid $37 for. I know were not talking rimfire here, but I'm very impressed with that Simmons scope, the brightness, sharpness, and construction are much more than I would have expected from such a brand at that pricepoint. If their rimfire is this good I'd like to see what their centerfire scopes are like these days.
As I sit and glass, which is common for hunters out west, I have sort of quickly discovered something I never learned when I was younger.
In my youth I had enthusiasm and spirit. In my middle to advancing years I have creaky knees, arthritis, and I tire more easily than I used to. Where I used to sit on the cold hard ground I now look for that soft spot to sooth my tired muscles. That leads me to my tip.
Carry your soft spot with you!
In my pack I carry an air filled, ultralight, camping pad....
