Scent Lok Clothing

Scent Lok clothing seemed to be the rage a few years ago.  I still see them advertise, but is it as popular now as a few years back?  Do you use it?  I have one jacket, but I've not bought any other products and have no plans to.

Looking at their prices a few

Looking at their prices a few years ago and even now I still don't see any reason to buy it.  I have never had any real problems getting close to game when archery hunting without it so why buy something that I don't think that I need.

I do know of a couple of hunters that swear by it but then they are not any more successful than any other archery hunters out there.

Years ago just after I

Years ago just after I started bow hunting I had debated on buying some.  I then lookied at what it costs and asked myself if I really needed to spend around $400 for clothing.  So I choose not to buy any at all and just hunt smarter using the wind and thermals to my advantage.  I do not hunt from a treestand so I can hunt accordingling.  maybe hunting from a treestand would be different and it may work in such cases, but they would still have to find a way to make it cheaper for me to want to purchase enough clothing for it to be effecient.  I use a scent killer spray and that is about the extent of my scent proofing.

I would like to see a similar test done with some of the sprays. I use them and believe they work because of the deer I've had right under me and they didn't smell me.

Didn't they have a lawsuit

Didn't they have a lawsuit that they lost last year based on their claim that they are scent free, when actually they are not?

I use more spray what what I wear and it works for me. Lee and Tiffany from The Chush are no longer going with them. They signed on with UA this year.

They did lose, but not on all charges

That's exactly what happened, but they didn't lose on everything that they were accused of.  Any of their claims that the product completely eliminated human scent were false.  Any advertising that said that it reduced the scent was judged to be acceptable.  I think North American Hunter magazine did a multipage article on it a few months ago.

I wouldnt waste my money on

I wouldnt waste my money on this stuff, I'll stick with my regular camo's and use my scent spray and cover scents. And also play the wind, the scent blocking clothing just seems like a gimic. Someone told me that most of the scent come from your mouth and head anyways. just save your money and play the wind.

Never tried it

For rifle hunting, I did not bother with any scent-mitigation products.  Archery hunting this year, I think I will give some of the sprays a try, but the cost for the Scent Lok clothing is enough to keep me away for now.

I would only buy this stuff

I would only buy this stuff if it was on the clearance rack but never for full price. Of course that is about the only way I buy anything these days. It all comes down to scent control and even if using a product like this you would still have to hunt smart and watch the wind so why spend the extra money.

I have a friend that swears by stuff like this and while he is a phenomenal hunter and game finder he is rarely able to close the deal himself. In the end it comes down to your own skills that get the job done.
