The Twister shown in the photo never fully developed and lifted back into the cloud about 2 seconds after the photo was taken.
I have a series of four photos taken in rapid succession, about 3 seconds apart, but didn't post them. They do reveal how quickly these things can develop though.
There were, however, several Tornadoes in this system that did touch down with deadly effects.
One that came just north of my wife's Mothers home traveled into Douglasville but thankfully, no one was injured.

I don't know what to say. We still have snow on the ground. But I'm glad things turned out OK -- that's a close call.

Atleast these storms are over in a few hours.
Nothing like a Mountain exploding onto you !!! That last for months or years.

Redoubt is still rumbling. It's around 350 miles away, so it doesn't affect us much except for when the ash heads toward Anchorage and affects their airport (Anchorage is pretty close and usually downwind). Our weather people noticed a few flecks of ash one day after a big eruption, but nothing you could see. It all depends on the winds. Most of the time low-level winds will blow one way, and high-level winds will go another. To get up here, it'd have to be a big eruption and there would have to be some pretty strong southerly winds to carry anything this far north.

Overall, the mountain's been pretty quiet -- last major eruption was on the 4th, and it's been building a lava dome. Typically, during periods of activity it builds a dome, only to have it collapse occasionally -- leading to big eruptions. Then the cycle starts again until it goes back to sleep.

I'm headed to Anchorage this weekend, so Murphy's Law says it'll blow big time while we're down there.
