The article says:

Quote:
Lipscomb had been in the flooded timberland near Hollowell Reservoir for about 12 hours when he was rescued. To survive, he drank dirty bayou water and ate a raw duck breast.

I hate to be critical, but this is a bunch of BULL. Yeah maybe the guy was lost I've been lost before, BUT a typical person can go 2 weeks without water and longer than that without food. The fact that he "survived" is an overstatement. Probably just some knid of political attention getting scheme.

I thought the article was a joke! Guess CNN was hard up for decent material and used this article as a last resort. I can accept being saved by white underwear but the raw duck chow down after 12 hours blew my mind...

Everybody knows that us hunters are a bunch of cannibals anyway. It was either the raw duck or his non shooting arm that is why you never hunt alone. You may have to eat your hunting partner... then again maybe he had a hunting partner but got hungry after 6 hours. Evil! LOL

You have to put the comment in a frame of reference. For some editors being more than 10 minutes from a starbucks is on the edge of survival. In this context, 12 hours away from anything is on the level of alferd packer.

Ben Lipscomb is city attorney in my home town of Rogers, AR. and is from Stuttgart (Duck Hunting Capital of the World). I understand he was hunting down there, and drinking the water in the White River National Refuge is not the most dangerous thing a person can do. As far as eating raw duck, I doubt that was an inconvenience for anyone raised in that part of the world.

While he's not a personal buddy, I've interacted with him enough working as a reporter to doubt he embellished. Especially after admitting he had to use his drawers to flag down help. Just an FYI. And yes, it's funny as hell however it went down. Better to use those skivvies as a flag than to have them found on top of a fresh pile of bear shooshie as the only thing left of you Big smile
