savage/ lazzeroni in .308 patriot

Need info on this gun. I'd like to hear some pros and cons from those who know. It sounds like a real thumper. I wonder if it has the accutrigger? Help. Thanks CD

The 308 patriot is a real scorcher as far as a short magmum goes but it does not have a huge advantage over the 300 WSM which is WAY more available. The patriot ammo will command a huge price. As far as the accu-trigger goes, all the new savages have them now so it should. It would be a great rifle/caliber but remember the ammo availability and cost.

Chester, you are very right. The patriot has about the same recoil as the 300wsm and out to 500 the energy is about the same. The patriot is about a foot flater at 500 and throws a 200 grainer flater than the wsm. But who really shoots that far very often. Also my gun dealer said that savage no longer offers the patriot so I 'd have to dump about 5-6 thousand on a Lazzeroni and that's just not gonna happen. The patriot sends a 200 grainer to 500 yds with about a ton of energy and only drop's 25 inches at that range. It sure would be nice. But the 300wsm is also very impressive. CD
