Savage 111 vs. Stevens 200 vs. Marlin XL7

I'm looking for a new .270 Win. deer rifle. The only model that I can find locally, is the Savage 111, with the scope package. Anything else will have to be ordered. So, I'm looking for opinions.

What is the difference between the Savage 111 non-accutrigger, and the Stevens 200?

How are the Marlin XL7's? It looks similar to the Savage/Stevens with an accu type trigger, at no extra cost. I can't even find someone at the local gun stores, that's even seen one.

Savage 111 vs. Stevens 200 vs. Marlin XL7

I have a marlin xl7 in 30 06. The gun is a great bang for the buck and the "accu-trigger" type trigger is very nice. Fully adjustable although I haven't changed it, It sure helps with flinching as you pull the trigger. I've shot several boxes of ammo through it since I got it before hunting season and really like the gun. 3 inch groups at 200 yards with just my bi-pod. I didn't kill anything with it this year but I'm happy with it so far. The only problem I've had is trying to put 4 + 1 bullets into the gun. For some reason the bolt scuffs up the case of the round. So iif you do buy one only put 3+1 in the gun Thumbs up

I've never owned the other guns but im sure somone else has and will chime in... Yes

Buy the savage, toss the scope in the trash and replace with a quality scope.

50 years from now if it breaks you'll still be able to find parts it.

I ended up buying a Tika T3 Lite. They were on sale, and the only model that they had in stock, in .270 Win. It came with scope mounts, and seems like a very nice rifle.

The T3's are a nice rifle.

The XL7's are a superb buy. The quality is excellent for the price and should not be much (if any) more expensive than the stevens 200.

I was going back to the store to buy buy the 30/06 XL7, US made, also on sale. When I saw the Tikka on sale in .270 Win. I really like the cartrage, and have a good supply of ammo. I also got a Hawke scope (on closeout). I can't wait till after deer season to try the new combo. I have another 5 weeks of deer season, then off to the range.

Owned both

I have owned a 110-270 and a Stevens 200-308
I've owned the 270 15 years, it shoots MOA at 250 yards
the 200 is terrible, the recoil is monsterous, I installed a adjustable trigger, but then took it out and sold the rifle when I discovered there are no after Mkt stocks due to the feed system. The plastic stock SUCKS

Never heard of a Hawke scope

Never heard of a Hawke scope before. A friend has a Marlin XL7. Very nice rifle! It has the Savage trigger. I'm not crazy about the savage trigger, that's the only one I ever shot though. Seem's to me like half stepping to either the old Canjar single set of a military double pull. Never cared for the Canjar but a military double pull that has been cleaned up nicely is my favorite trigger. have one on a 30-06 built by Paul Jaeger in 1946. But ot the choice's mentioned, I'd probably get the Marlin, just like the way it look's.
