Sasquatch Sightings Increase During Hunting Season...

Personally, I'm extremely skeptical that a species of mammal that large has escaped detection. When was the last time a new species of any size was discovered anywhere in the world? We're not talking about a bird, rodent or insect. If somebody could tell me when the last 8 foot long mammalian species was discovered on this planet, I'd sure like to know.

Somehow, we're to believe this has avoided being found despite legions of people looking for it -- unlike other small species that are found by accident.

As for the government concealing it, I don't see the motivation. It's not like it would offer technological advances or pose a threat through mass hysteria. Believe it or not, the government has more to do than operate a vast conspiracy to conceal knowledge of an overgrown monkey.

I am probably the most cynical of anti-socialists but, I can prove if a Big foot or Yeti or whatever exists, it is definetly intellegent ;
It stays the hell away from society and humans and lives in the solitude of the woods.
After all when the day comes that hunters are connected by giving smiley faces to each other on an on-line chat instead of spittin' tobacco on a wood floor around field and stream magazines and lying, sorry, stretching reality about the one that got away I think thats the day the animal has past the hunter and should be the only one allowed there.

Maybe we should ask the people who are indigenous to this continent. It would only make sense if the bigfoot is as inteligent as you say, that these people are harbouring it from us as a last resort for its protection. This would make sense as to the few sightings that do occur. It would know when it is safe to come and go. Its all about trust and loyalty. Just a thought and an explanation if you do believe. This would solve a lot of mysteries like burial grounds lairs etc.

There are other species out there that are extremely reclusive and much smaller -- and we know all about them. Then someone needs to answer what happens to the dead ones. Dead animals no longer have a say in who finds them. There's a nothing in the fossil record. We've proven the existence of large mammals that've been extinct for thousands of years, but we can't find evidence of an existing large mammal?

No bones, no skulls, no hair, no excrement, no torn up vegetation, no signs of habitation. This takes reclusiveness to new levels -- all kinds of people looking for decades and none of these things have been found.

Personally, I'm not convinced that absence of evidence is proof of existence.

Expatriate, I was reading your post and got thinking about it so I looked up the http://www.bfro.net site and found this:

"Is there any physical evidence at all?
The short answer: Yes, there is quite a bit of physical evidence. Tracks, hairs, scat, and tree damage are all "physical evidence." People tend to misuse this phrase when they really mean "physical remains."

Evidence vs. Remains

The assertion that there is absolutely no physical evidence is absolutely false. There is more physical evidence than most people realize. Physical evidence is found every month in various areas across the country. Distinct tracks that do not match other animal tracks, hairs that match each other but no known wild animals, and large scats that could not be made by any known species, are all "physical evidence."

The presence or absence of "physical remains" is a wholly different matter. "Physical remains" means body parts, or fossils of body parts. Though mammals may leave tracks, scats and hairs behind, they do not leave body parts behind very often. Body parts of mammals are only available when they die. Thus availability of physical remains is initially determined by population size and lifespan. A rare species with a long lifespan will leave very little physical remains, collectively, for humans to find. The probability of humans actually finding and collecting and identifying those remains before they are completely reabsorbed into the biomass complicates the "physical remains as evidence" equation dramatically."

Ok, so it's not as big as a Yeti.

Looks like tree huggin propaganda to stop the logging.

Oh yes, Bigfoot does exist.

I was married to his sister!

I saw the news about Borneo. Big news, small mammal (about the size of a housecat). That's a far cry from an 8 foot tall primate.

Sawman brings up another great point. The tree-huggers would just love to prove Bigfoot exists, because it'd put enormous amounts of habitat off limits to logging or development. But somehow the people so adept at finding spotted owls and snail darters just can't seem to find something that's bigger than they are.

Here's a possible example of what has happened concerning hunters
with this subject. The link below...
