Sask whitetail draw for canadian residents

 www.environment.gov.sk.ca/Default.aspx?DN=0e8f3317-71d5-49e1-abdc-803d7ba7d3c8

Here is the link. Whitetail will be on a lottery draw for 2011 for canadian residents in sask.

Saskie this may really suck for you. If it gets to be like the resident draw and goes to priority status you may only get to hunt your area every 3 or 4 years depending on the number of applications in your zone.

On a side note when you click on the link there are some good photos of sask hunting if you click on the antelope at the bottom left side of the page where it says photo gallery. Have fun browsing.

CRAP!!!!

Censored

I had emailled early in the New Year about this and they replied that it was only going to be in the western "border zones" and was being postponed in general until 2012.

Yuk! Angry Censored ::censored: Censored

I'm awfully glad you posted that or I'd have never thought to apply.

Canadian Residents

I would imagine there will be a lot of canadian residents that will not be aware of the change and end up thinking that they can just buy a tag when they arrive just as they did in the past. When you come to sask in past years did you secure a tag before you left from your province of residence ?

Nope

Angry Nope - just walked into the post office or hardware store in my home town and bought them. Frequently had to argue with the post master that I really did have to pay the extra $$$ for a Cdn resident licence and didn't qualify for the small town, local resident discount.

The worst of it is that my hunting area borders two WMZ. Our home quarter is in 50 but adjacent to 63, where we often hunt too. Now I'm restricted to one WMZ; which one do I apply for?

Angry

oh well...

Got your message. Which zone will have to depend on when I go know I guess. In rifle season I can only hunt in 63; in ML probably 50. I read it a little closer and it says that this year ALL applicants will be drawn; but like you pointed out I doubt many (particularly those who have been regular hunters there) will know; or think to check the SERM website in Apr/May.

THANKS A TON for posting this. It saved my hunt this fall for sure!!!Hello Thumbs up Applause

I will try to keep you posted

I will try to keep you posted on any changes i hear about, so you can stay on top of things. This year all who apply will be drawn next year may be different but you will still only be allowed to hunt 1 zone as i see it

Delayed

The Sask draw has been delayed until may 9th. I'm not exactley sure why it has been delayed but i have heard RUMORS about validating winterkill % before setting season quotas.
